UFOLOGY Glossary Series - G
A series to help people new to the topic understand the terms, concepts, and language used in the study of UFOs and alien phenomena.
The world of ufology is vast, mysterious, and often overwhelming for newcomers and seasoned researchers alike. With decades of reports, theories, terminology, and classifications, understanding the language of UFO research is essential for making sense of the phenomena.
This Ufology Glossary is designed to be a living, evolving reference guide for anyone interested in the study of unidentified flying objects, alien encounters, and the deeper mysteries of our universe. Whether you're exploring government disclosures, diving into abduction accounts, or just trying to decipher terms like “CE-5” or “anti-gravity propulsion,” this glossary is your companion through the strange and fascinating world of UFO phenomena.
Each entry is organized alphabetically and includes clear, concise definitions to help demystify the language used by researchers, experiencers, and theorists across the field.
We begin with the letter A, and from there, the glossary will continue to grow—entry by entry, mystery by mystery.
Greys (The Greys)
One of the most commonly reported alien species. Typically described as short, with gray skin, large black eyes, small mouths, and no visible nose or ears. Often associated with abduction scenarios.
Government Disclosure
The act of a government releasing information related to UFOs, alien encounters, or classified investigations. Often linked to FOIA documents or official press briefings.
Grid Pattern Burns (UFO Encounter Evidence)
A specific type of physical mark or burn found on the ground or human skin after close contact with a UFO, often in geometric or grid-like arrangements.
Gravitational Distortion (UFO Effect)
The warping or manipulation of gravity in the vicinity of a UFO, sometimes described as a feeling of pressure, levitation, or weightlessness by witnesses.
Ground Traces (Physical UFO Evidence)
Physical markings or anomalies left on soil or vegetation after a UFO landing or low-hovering event. May include scorched earth, flattened grass, or chemical residue.
Gamma Radiation (UFO Encounter)
A type of radiation sometimes detected following close encounters. In some cases, witnesses report symptoms of radiation sickness.
Genetic Harvesting (Abduction Theory)
A theory suggesting that extraterrestrials abduct humans to collect genetic material for hybridization or cloning purposes.
Guided Abduction
An abduction scenario in which the experiencer is not forcibly taken but is instead led or influenced into participation, often through telepathic suggestion.
Grayscape
A term used to describe the sterile, metallic, and dimly lit environments reported aboard alien craft, particularly in Grey abduction accounts.
Global UFO Wave
A period during which UFO sightings spike worldwide, often within a specific timeframe. These waves are studied for patterns and potential correlations.
Government Disinformation (Ufology Context)
Deliberate spreading of false information or fabricated stories by official channels to discredit witnesses or distract from genuine UFO incidents.
Geometric Craft
UFOs reported to have clear geometric shapes such as triangles, cubes, or hexagons, often with uniform lighting and smooth surfaces.
Gravitic Propulsion
A theoretical form of spaceflight that involves manipulating gravitational fields to move a craft, often attributed to alien technology.
Glowing Orbs
Spherical UFOs that emit light and move with agility. These are commonly reported in both urban and remote sightings and are sometimes associated with surveillance behavior.
G-forces (UFO Maneuverability)
Refers to the intense gravitational forces that would occur during high-speed aerial maneuvers. Many UFO sightings describe movements that should produce lethal G-forces, yet appear unaffected—suggesting advanced technology.
