UFOLOGY Glossary Series - I
A series to help people new to the topic understand the terms, concepts, and language used in the study of UFOs and alien phenomena.
The world of ufology is vast, mysterious, and often overwhelming for newcomers and seasoned researchers alike. With decades of reports, theories, terminology, and classifications, understanding the language of UFO research is essential for making sense of the phenomena.
This Ufology Glossary is designed to be a living, evolving reference guide for anyone interested in the study of unidentified flying objects, alien encounters, and the deeper mysteries of our universe. Whether you're exploring government disclosures, diving into abduction accounts, or just trying to decipher terms like “CE-5” or “anti-gravity propulsion,” this glossary is your companion through the strange and fascinating world of UFO phenomena.
Each entry is organized alphabetically and includes clear, concise definitions to help demystify the language used by researchers, experiencers, and theorists across the field.
We begin with the letter A, and from there, the glossary will continue to grow—entry by entry, mystery by mystery.
Implant (Alien Implant)
A small, often metallic object allegedly inserted into the body of an abductee during an alien encounter. Believed by some to serve as tracking devices, biological monitors, or tools for influence.

Induction (Abduction Process)
The initial phase of an alien abduction, during which the experiencer is immobilized, rendered unconscious, or telepathically commanded before being taken aboard a craft.
Interdimensional Beings
Entities theorized to originate from parallel dimensions or realities, rather than other planets. This theory suggests UFOs and their occupants may phase in and out of our reality.
Interference (UFO Encounter)
The disruption of electrical devices, communications systems, or even human perception during close contact with a UFO.
Insectoid Aliens
Alien beings reported as having insect-like features, such as mantis-shaped heads and segmented bodies. Often described as tall, emotionless, and observed overseeing abduction scenarios.

Infiltration (Ufology Context)
A theory that extraterrestrials (or their hybrids) have covertly entered human institutions—such as governments or corporations—to influence events or gather data.
Intelligent Non-Human Entity (INHE)
A broad term used to describe any non-human being that exhibits intelligence, including aliens, interdimensionals, or unknown consciousnesses encountered during high-strangeness events.
Initial Contact (Ufology)
The very first interaction between a human and a non-human intelligence, often used to describe early encounters, whether accidental or orchestrated.
Infrared Detection (UFO Surveillance)
The use of infrared cameras and sensors to detect heat signatures from unidentified craft, often used by military aircraft and researchers during sightings.
Invisible Craft (UFO Cloaking)
Reports of UFOs that appear to vanish from sight, either instantly or gradually, suggesting advanced cloaking or dimension-shifting technologies.
Isotropic Field (UFO Theory)
A theoretical energy field that surrounds some UFOs, allowing for uniform propulsion or distortion of surrounding space-time.
