UFOLOGY Glossary Series - K
A series to help people new to the topic understand the terms, concepts, and language used in the study of UFOs and alien phenomena.
The world of ufology is vast, mysterious, and often overwhelming for newcomers and seasoned researchers alike. With decades of reports, theories, terminology, and classifications, understanding the language of UFO research is essential for making sense of the phenomena.
This Ufology Glossary is designed to be a living, evolving reference guide for anyone interested in the study of unidentified flying objects, alien encounters, and the deeper mysteries of our universe. Whether you're exploring government disclosures, diving into abduction accounts, or just trying to decipher terms like “CE-5” or “anti-gravity propulsion,” this glossary is your companion through the strange and fascinating world of UFO phenomena.
Each entry is organized alphabetically and includes clear, concise definitions to help demystify the language used by researchers, experiencers, and theorists across the field.
We begin with the letter A, and from there, the glossary will continue to grow—entry by entry, mystery by mystery.
K-Class Encounter (Kinetic UFO Contact)
A rarely used classification term referring to any UFO incident involving direct physical interaction or harm, such as burns, injuries, or radiation exposure. Considered a sub-category of close encounters involving kinetic or environmental effects.

Karman Line (UFO Airspace Boundary)
The boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and outer space, located at 100 kilometers (62 miles) above sea level. It’s often referenced in UFO tracking when objects transition between atmospheric and exoatmospheric flight—something conventional aircraft cannot do.
Kecksburg Incident
A well-known 1965 UFO crash case in Pennsylvania, where witnesses reported seeing a metallic, acorn-shaped object fall from the sky. Military personnel quickly sealed off the area, leading to speculation of a recovered alien craft. Sometimes referred to as the “Roswell of the East.”
KGB UFO Files
Refers to alleged and declassified Soviet-era documents detailing military encounters with UFOs during the Cold War. These include sightings, radar anomalies, and recovery attempts, some of which were released after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Kinetic Interference (UFO Effect)
Describes the effect of UFOs causing movement or disruption of nearby physical objects, such as car engines stalling, compasses spinning, or magnetometers fluctuating—believed to be caused by electromagnetic or anti-gravity fields.
Kite Craft (UFO Shape Category)
A less common UFO shape described as diamond- or kite-like, often hovering or rotating slowly. Sometimes seen with a pulsating light or trailing luminous mist.
Knowledge Transfer (Contact Experience)
Refers to the sudden reception of complex information or symbolic data from an extraterrestrial entity during contact. Often described as a “download” of insights, scientific principles, or warnings.
Kundalini Reaction (Energetic Effect in Contact)
A term borrowed from spiritual disciplines to describe the spontaneous energetic surges or altered states experienced by some contactees during or after alien encounters—characterized by intense emotion, shaking, or visionary experiences.
